Supporting opportunities for Channel Islanders

Blue Islands funds flights to support our home island community.

Blue Islands is offering travel support for Channel Island charities, groups and individuals who may apply for funding for travel off island. Whether it’s sport, art, enrichment or development, we wish to play our part in enabling islanders to pursue their individual and shared ambitions.

We anticipate a huge interest in this latest round of funding and look forward to selecting as many worthy beneficiaries as possible.

To apply, our criteria is:

  • You are applying to access an opportunity that would be impossible or very difficult to achieve without the support of free flights
  • The activity must enable something good to happen (an opportunity, experience, development or achievement for example) to the benefit of the recipient(s) and, where possible, the broader community
  • Sponsorship must directly benefit the recipient
  • Applicants should be willing to share their journey with us via social media and other marketing activities

Previously Blue Islands has benefitted many Channel Islanders with funding for flights including:

  • Guernsey surfer Tom Hook
  • Jersey Jets netball star Lily Jones
  • Team GB Archer Lucy O’Sullivan
  • The Youth Commission for Guernsey & Alderney

The latest round of applications is now closed. We are now reviewing submissions and more details will be announced soon.

The Blue Islands’ support enabled me to compete in the 2019 Archery National Tour and progress through the competition that year, it’s a wonderful initiative that enables Islanders to pursue opportunities that may not be possible without the support of off-island travel.

Lucy O'Sullivan, 2019 Archery GB National Tour

I felt very proud to represent the Channel Islands at this prestigious event and enjoyed the challenge of surfing against older and more experienced surfers. I was really happy to have made the final in the Under 18s.

Tom Hook, Guernsey Surfer competing in Under 18s British Championships

We are delighted by the continued support of Blue Islands to the Youth Commission. The kind generosity means that we can support young people from Guernsey to get off island and experience culture and education in the UK as part of the ‘Get Away’ project.

Charlie Cox, CEO Youth Commission

I am really grateful to Blue Islands for the support that allowed me to travel to England to play in this tournament.

Lily Jones, Severn Stars U17's Netball team

I am absolutely delighted with Brett’s achievements. It is all thanks to Blue Islands for awarding these flights, without their support it’s unlikely we would have gone.

Heidi Ephgrave, Group Coach and Chairperson for Riding for the Disabled Guernsey
