Glasgow Airport was a hub of buzz and excitement on the morning of Saturday 19 July, as our Guernsey Commonwealth Games Association Team departed on its specially chartered Blue Islands flight to Glasgow 2014.
The 39-strong team of elite Guernsey athletes will compete against 70 other Commonwealth nations across nine sports - athletics, badminton, cycling, judo, lawn bowls, shooting, squash, swimming and table tennis in this 12 day sporting event.
Prior to boarding, the team enjoyed numerous photo opportunities and interviews with the media as well as the usual complimentary refreshments in the Blue Islands lounge. The Guernsey team used Twitter to post several tweets complimenting the Blue Islands 'Welcome Difference' including "Great service by #blueislands" and swimmer James Jurkiewicz tweeting #freebies.
