Local airline Blue Islands is helping 14-year-old Elizabeth College pupil Morgan Clayton try and achieve his dreams by providing free baggage for his hockey goalkeeper kit as he attends the England Hockey Performance Centre in Southampton.
Blue Islands CEO Rob Veron said the locally-owned airline was happy to support Morgan by flying his huge kit bag for free.
Guernsey is a truly fantastic place to live, but does mean on occasion opportunities are harder to capitalise on. That’s why we wanted to support Morgan, he requested a discount on luggage, but so impressed us with his drive, determination and desire to eventually play for the English hockey team, we wanted to do everything we could to support him, and decided to offer the luggage for free. We look forward to hearing how he gets on and wish him all luck in this exciting new stage in his hockey career.
Morgan said he was thankful to the airline for helping him.
I am most grateful to Blue Islands for sponsoring my goal keeping kit bag when I travel to my England Hockey Performance Centre training sessions in Southampton. Blue Islands are helping me achieve my dream goal of becoming a professional goalkeeper, and branding my goalkeeper bag and allowing it to travel free of charge on 22 return flights to honour my training commitments in the UK.
I will post my progress on behalf of Blue Islands on social media. Once again, I am thankful to Blue Islands, Guernsey hockey and Elizabeth College for helping me reach my full potential as a hockey player.
Mr Veron added:
Blue Islands take a special interest in sport across the Channel Islands, regularly operating additional charters for sports teams. Currently we are also supporting Guernsey FC by providing free flights for their on loan Bournemouth AFC goal keeper, William Dennis. We are keen to nurture Channel Island sport and help develop its talent in any way we can.
