Reconnecting Jersey again

blue islands kick-starts flights from 26 april

Following today’s Government of Jersey announcement, Blue Islands will gear up flights from Jersey across its network from 26 April as the island relaxes its travel restrictions.

Rob Veron, CEO Blue Islands said, “Today’s announcement is incredibly exciting, this is the news we have all been waiting for and provides assurance for consumers who are eager to travel. Whether it is reuniting with friends and family, or a long-awaited escape, the easing of travel restrictions and aligning with the UK Common Travel Area means we can now look forward to travelling once more. Transport infrastructure plays a vital role in the island’s socio-economic wellbeing.  We are delighted to be reconnecting Jersey once again.

“This will also be an amazing opportunity to attract new, and welcome previous visitors to the island who want a break that is close to home, but will feel a world away this summer, and we are working closely with Visit Jersey to ensure that Jersey as a visitor destination will be more appealing than ever.”

Blue Islands has maintained Jersey’s essential lifeline connectivity since the start of the first wave of the pandemic last year. Ensuring Islanders requiring specialist medical care, essential workers, and those requiring repatriation purposes could travel as required. From 26 April, the airline will kick-start services across its network, initially to Southampton, Exeter, Bristol and Birmingham, with schedules sustainably increasing to meet demand and flights to Newquay and East Midlands will be reintroduced later this summer.

Rob added, “We know how important flexibility is right now, for peace of mind we have free upgrades to allow changes to be made for any reason up to three hours before departure so everyone can book with confidence.

“We can’t wait to welcome our customers on board again, where of course our enhanced wellbeing measures will continue.”
